This application is actually a comprehensive guide to computing: it consists of a series of articles with detailed schemes divided into three categories. The first category, 'Computing' contains topics related to hardware devices, data structures, data files, system development, binary numbers, data analysis, etc. The second category, 'Digital Techniques', contains topics related to logic gates, combinational logic, Boolean and DeMorgans theorems etc. The third category deals with microprocessors: here you can learn about micro-computers, memory addressing, instructions and control, addressing modes and so on. There's a search engine included in order to help get around the multitude of topics. Apart from articles, there are also a few program features very useful for practical training: an equation editor, a graph editor, a statistics editor and a logic syntax editor. Apart from these tools, there's also a VBScript interpreter which can introduce you to some basic programming. You can use it to keep an accurate track of credits and payments from your current, credit card or debit card accounts. The program doesn't need to be installed on your drive. Simply download and extract the files from the ZIP archive and you are ready to start managing your money. This is great because you can install the program on a USB Flash removable drive in order to insure your privacy and mobility. The application has a nicely designed and intuitive interface, which will make it easy for you to manage your accounts, operate transactions, manage payments, transfer money between accounts, etc. Payments are divided into categories: electricity, gas, groceries, mortgage rate, etc. All accounts and categories can be edited, as well as exchange rates. Any time you want, you can take a look at the transaction history or print out reports regarding accounts or transactions. Although it's free, this version has some limitations: you can only manage four accounts and ten categories. Pluses: Exchange rates can be automatically retrieved from the Internet, or they can be entered manually. You can have access to international exchange rates with the click of a button. The program supports the import of CSV, XLS (MS Excel format) and QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) files. The program's databases can be backed up an restored in case disaster strikes. Password protection is also available in order to secure your financial data. Drawbacks / flaws: The program caused some faults when trying to generate account balance line charts and when trying to save a manually entered exchange rate. The limitations make it look rather like a demo. In conclusion: If it wasn't for the instability, this application would have been great for managing your finance.

Input Directory is an extremely simple remote control tool. It allows you to control multiple systems using one keyboard and one mouse. To be honest, I was expecting a program which would allow you to control a remote computer using your own monitor. Well, this program is different. It allows you to control multiple workstations as long as their monitors are in your visual field, for you need to look at the remote computer's monitor. This means that you can use this program to control only computers which are in the same room. At first, I was dazed a little bit about this program, but after some practice I found out that it's really nice to use. If you are in an busy working environment and you need to use two or more different workstations which are close to you, all you need to move the mouse towards the side of the screen closest to that workstation and the cursor will disappear from your screen and re-appear on the slave workstation's screen. Of course, you can select a hot-key combination in order to do that. You can select several computers to act as Master computers, and you can set a computer to be either Master or Slave. Installing and configuring the program may seem a bit complicated, so I advise you to carefully read the 'QuickStart' guide. Using the program is a walk in the park. Pluses: You can also share the clipboard (on shared partitions or folders), which means that you can quickly copy data from a workstation to another. Drawbacks / flaws: In order to establish a connection with a slave computer, you need to enter it's name; entering the IP address won't work. In conclusion: A limited, yet simple and handy solution for remote control as oposed to the payed remote control programs. I believe that it will get even better with the next releases.
